DONT LET SOMEONE RIG YOUR VOTE!

Assalam Alaikum, brothers and sisters in Islam! We are facing a new era of Democracy that we never had before in this peaceful land of Islam. Although we were unfortunate to bring a system of government that protects the rights of common men from the tyranny and cruelty of autocratic dictatorship, we are fortunate enough to have a constitution that guaranteed a multi-party election this year - yes, which means this country will be a democracy within this year. Alhamd Lillahi!

Of course, we never had enough time to aware the whole community of the cons and pros of having a real democracy. However, our hardships paid in some form that we are lucky to have a majority who have the calibre to spread the democratic slogan - "We believe in a Change and the Change should be a good change not an evil Change!"

Brothers and Sisters. Please keep in mind that there may be evil men who are very hungry for the power in the Presidential race. These evil men may be wealthy enough to cater all our earthly needs. They may be able to pay for our medical bills, transport or other temporary needs that our government has not provided so far, in order to persuade us to get our blessings.

People who are ignorant and greedy would go along with these so called ‘philanthropists’. Some people would sell their basic rights and compromise their family values in order to get the blessings of these earthly ‘angels’. People around these people would be brainwashed as hundreds, thousands and in some cases millions of dollars in the form of gifts would be given to them by these rich men to rig our basic rights.

Brothers and Sisters! Please be aware of these people and save our community from these wannabe Dictators. Think beyond our only future as it may cost the future of our coming generations. These people are nasty enough to bring back slavery to the Maldives. Think your children under the fists of these Dictators as slaves. Think about the resort employees who have lost their basic rights recently due to the consents of some rich resort owners in the Majlis.

You may not be able to get a good health insurance scheme, old age pension scheme or unemployment benefits if these lunatics are in power. Think twice before you vote for the future of our religion and the country. Do not let them rig your vote for the future of our children.

May Allah bless us all and save us from the would-be Dictators. Amen!

Dr. Waheed is back!!

Dr. Mohamed Waheed Hassan Manik is back in the Maldives to compete in the country's first ever multi- party Presidential election to be held in October this year. "Waheed is so unpredictable" says a friend of mine who is also a very close friend of Waheed. According to Waheed's friend "Waheed may be considered as a practical joke. But you can get him right only after you get along with him. He is a good man with a simple agenda".

Waheed is an experienced guy with an academic background to back him. Critics say that his only problem is flying abroad after each and every failure. However, Waheed defends himself saying that is puerly for the benefit of the reform process. He mentioned more than once and clearly explained his motive behind leaving Maldives. He feels that he may not be a clean person if he stays in the Maldives to serve under both the Government or any of the Business tycoons, whom he describes all Corrupt and notorious.

Waheed has once joined the Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP), the pioneer of this reform process, however vanised within no time when he was defeated in the MDP leadership race in the first ever MDP congress. This clearly discredited the hardworking Maldivians actively involved in the reform process and proved that he is one of the power hungry opportunists in the upcoming presidential election.

If Waheed still wanted to serve the Community, we strongly urge him to get-bond with the opposition MDP.
